Cycling

Maldon has much to interest the keen cyclist, the recreational bike rider and the general holiday-maker. Nearby there are tracks and trails for mountain bike riding, including the Muckleford Forest (see maps of North & South sections). Castlemaine to Maldon Rail Trail, and the La Larr Ba Gauwa Mountain Bike Park at Harcourt.

There is also some great road riding with rolling hills, long flat sections and more challenging climbs. Some more details are here.

History

Maldon was named as Australia’s first Notable Town due to its rich goldmining history and many intact historic buildings. The town’s museum is well worth a visit.
